Private Placement Agencies from Outside Assam Required to Register Under Local Legislation: Patowary
Private placement agencies from outside Assam must register under The Assam Private Placement Agencies for Recruitment of Workers (Regulation) Act, 2019 to operate in the state.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary announced this in the Assam Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.
In response to a query by Congress member Debabrata Saikia, the Minister stated that the Labour Welfare Department has directed all commercial establishments to comply with state labour laws.
The registration process under the Act is set to begin on April 1.
Saikia raised concerns based on a media report, alleging that private placement agencies recruited a significant number of candidates from outside Assam for Grade 3 and 4 posts at AIIMS Guwahati, thereby depriving local aspirants.
