- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the development of 11 new five-star hotels in Guwahati, aiming to bolster the city’s hospitality and tourism sectors. This initiative includes properties from renowned brands such as Marriott and Taj, strategically located to attract both national and international tourists.

Marriott Hotels:
Two Marriott hotels are planned near Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, occupying 76 bighas of land. Additionally, four more Marriott properties are set to be developed in the city. -
Taj Hotels:
Two Taj hotels are slated for the upcoming Aerocity project. Furthermore, the existing Taj Vivanta at Khanapara will be replaced by a new Taj property. -
Other Developments:
A Lemon Tree Hotel is planned along the National Highway. The Radisson Blu Hotel is expanding with an additional 100 rooms. Business magnate Mukesh Ambani has also pledged to establish an Oberoi Hotel in Guwahati. -
