- As part of the birth centenary celebrations of the legendary musician and Bharat Ratna awardee Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, the Assam government has announced plans to translate his biography into 23 Indian languages. This initiative aims to distribute the translated biographies across four lakh libraries, colleges, universities, and government offices nationwide.

Authorship and Distribution: The biography, authored by renowned writer Anuradha Sharma Pujari, will undergo a peer review process before being sent to 10 lakh families across Assam.

Centenary Celebrations Committee: A core committee has been formed to oversee the centenary celebrations, comprising Dr. Hazarika’s family members, including his son Tez Hazarika, grandson Sage Hazarika, brother Samar Hazarika, and sister-in-law Manisha Hazarika, along with other close associates.

Inaugural Event: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accepted the invitation to be the Chief Guest at the inaugural event in Guwahati. The state plans to commemorate the centenary with year-long events across the country, including cities like New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and regions like Arunachal Pradesh.

Commemorative Coin Proposal: The Assam government has proposed issuing a commemorative coin in honor of Dr. Hazarika and has sent formal requests to the Finance Minister and the Reserve Bank of India.
