Amit Shah Leads Review Meeting on Implementation of New Criminal Laws in Northeast India
Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized that the full implementation of new criminal laws will lead to a significant improvement in law and order, cautioning against political interference in cases related to terrorism, mob lynching, and organized crime.
Reviewing the implementation status of these laws in the northeastern states, Shah discussed policing, prisons, courts, prosecution, and forensics, instructing state governments to monitor progress and ensure citizens’ rights are protected.
He reiterated the central government’s commitment to a transparent and efficient justice system, stressing the importance of prompt crime registration for strengthening law enforcement.
Shah urged northeastern states to accelerate implementation efforts and ensure that the new laws facilitate Supreme Court verdicts within three years of an FIR.
He also directed states to train 100% of police personnel on these new legal provisions for effective enforcement.
