The old Gauhati Medical College Hospital will be demolished to make space for a new 3,000-bed hospital. -
One of India’s Largest Hospitals:
Once completed, the new GMCH complex will have a total capacity of 5,000 beds, making it the second-largest hospital in India after Patna. -

MMCH Upgradation:
MMCH will be upgraded into a Super Speciality Hospital, enabling advanced surgeries including liver and kidney transplants. -
Proton Beam Therapy at GMCH:
GMCH will be the third location in India (after Chennai and Mumbai) to offer proton beam therapy, a high-precision cancer treatment.-
The machine costs Rs. 500 crore.
