Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a new round of geotagging to ensure all eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) receive their benefits. - Key Highlights:
- The initiative aims to prevent the exclusion of eligible beneficiaries.
- Around 30 lakh beneficiaries in Assam are covered under PMAY.
- 3.8 lakh beneficiaries will receive benefits on March 19, with another 3.8 lakh to be assisted in the coming months.
- Self-help groups (SHGs) and local women from nearby villages will handle the geotagging, replacing Panchayat & Rural Development (P&RD) officials.
- Beneficiaries missing the geotagging process can self-geotag or seek assistance.
The move is intended to enhance transparency and efficiency in the implementation of the PMAY scheme.
