The Ministry of Civil Aviation is awaiting a Detailed Project Report (DPR) from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the proposed greenfield airport at Doloo, Cachar, Assam, despite granting site clearance over a year ago.
Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu informed the Rajya Sabha that the Government of India approved the site clearance based on the recommendations of the steering committee on greenfield airports on February 22, 2024.
The AAI must prepare a DPR, including social and environmental impact assessments and project timelines, before seeking ‘in-principle’ approval from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) to commence construction.
