- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has articulated an ambitious vision to elevate the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) to ₹10 lakh crore by the fiscal year 2027–2028. This strategic objective was a focal point during his recent meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi. Minister Sitharaman commended the state’s economic initiatives and pledged comprehensive support to facilitate Assam’s growth trajectory.

Strategic Engagements in New Delhi: During his six-day official visit, CM Sarma is scheduled to confer with several Union Ministers, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Power and Housing Minister Manohar Lal. Additionally, he will participate in the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting and the BJP Chief Ministers’ conclave.

Infrastructure Development Initiatives: In a significant development, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has floated the tender for the Jorhat-Majuli Bridge project. This 6.81 km, two-lane bridge, estimated at ₹600.51 crore, aims to bolster connectivity and economic activity in the region.
