CM Sarma Highlights Investment Drive Aiming for 2 Lakh Jobs, Warns of Land Acquisition Challenges

The Advantage Assam 2.0 summit has secured investment commitments totaling ₹5.18 lakh crore, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighting its potential to create two lakh direct jobs. He emphasized that even if 70% of these investments materialize, Assam could witness significant economic growth, equivalent to 80% of the state’s GDP. Sarma acknowledged that the primary challenge now lies in land acquisition and offering competitive incentives to investors. To address this, the government intends to allocate state-owned land for industrial development, minimizing the impact on private agricultural land.
