Government Develops 5-Year Irrigation Master Plan with 3,900 Ongoing Projects: Minister
Assam has developed a five-year irrigation master plan for all districts, incorporating inputs from legislators, as announced by Irrigation Minister Ashok Singhal in the Assam Legislative Assembly.
The announcement was made in response to a question by Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi during the ninth day of the Budget session.
Currently, nine Surface Minor Irrigation (SMI) schemes are in progress, along with additional projects under the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF).
In total, approximately 3,900 irrigation and medium-measure schemes are ongoing across Assam.
