State to Provide Bonus Above MSP for Rice and Mustard Farmers Starting April 1
Why in News?
- Assam government has announced an additional bonus over the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy and mustard farmers, starting from April 1, 2025. This initiative aims to boost farmers’ income and encourage agricultural growth in the state.

Additional Support Price for Paddy: Farmers will receive an extra ₹250 per quintal over the central government’s Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy procurement.

Additional Support Price for Mustard: Mustard farmers will be provided with an additional ₹500 per quintal above the MSP. This marks the first time such an incentive has been introduced for mustard cultivation in the state.

Implementation Period: The scheme will be in effect from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, covering the upcoming agricultural cycle.
