Assam CM Announces 24/7 Operations for Shops in Guwahati, Dibrugarh, and Silchar
24×7 Operations for Businesses: Commercial establishments in Dibrugarh, Guwahati, and Silchar can now operate round the clock at the owner’s discretion, as per a Cabinet decision announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Employee Work Regulations:
No mandatory weekly closure.
Employees cannot work beyond 48 hours per week in a single shift, ensuring compliance with labour laws.
Business owners can implement shift-based staffing for extended hours.
Statewide Business Hours:
In other parts of Assam, businesses can remain open until 2 AM.
Wine shops in Dibrugarh and Silchar are permitted to operate until midnight.
Infrastructure Development:
Construction of a hostel for MLAs, the Speaker, and the Secretariat building is in progress.
